Why you should be scoring your performance from A*-F
We all have moments where we doubt our ability; we think back to every game we have played and come up with a reason why we are not good enough to be in that team. We doubt the decision our coach has made to include use in a squad and generally feel pretty rubbish about ourselves in general.
If this sounds like you, don’t worry we’ve all been there. But what sets us apart is how we choose to deal with this inner critic (or demon) that likes to sabotage our self talk.
Have you ever tried scoring your performance?
Getting a score as direct feedback for our performance is something we are quite accustomed to. You get a grade in an exam which lets you know how well you are performing, you are given action points in appraisals at work, even your car MOT works on a scoring system. So why not apply this same mindset to your game.
Scoring your performances, attitude to training and general lifestyle and attitude towards training isn’t about getting the best grade. It is about being completely honest with yourself, and giving yourself a genuine score for each of the factors which contribute to an all star athlete and the using this score to help set an action plan to help you improve next time.
