Interview: Creating CLUB NET

“I wanted to find a way to continue to support the athletes and coaches alongside their daily lives – and so CLUB NET was born.”

On August 20th we launched CLUB NET. An online Netball Programme designed to help you think like an athlete, train like an athlete, coach athletes and overall improve your performance and excel your game. To give you a little more information about the CLUB and why we believe it is the up and coming way to train, we have interviewed Founder and Coach Jenni Monger to give a few more details on why you should join the CLUB.

Why did you set up CLUB NET?

“Over the lockdown period, I set up Netball Excellence Training, a performance coaching business specifically designed to help players to improve and excel their game. I have always been passionate about supporting athletes and teaching them how to improve whether it be in the gym, in fitness sessions, or on the court looking at skill and positional specific play. NET allowed me to provide an online platform for so many athletes and coaches across the country; I was regularly having 50+ join in on my LIVE workouts, I had 180 athletes join my Virtual Netball Camp and provided a number of requested coaching resources to different teams, schools and clubs. When everything started to return to normal, and we started to emerge from lockdown, I wanted to find a way to continue to support the athletes and coaches alongside their daily lives – and so CLUB NET was born.”

What are the benefits of joining the club?

“I feel like this is all I ever talk about now! There are so many benefits of joining whether you are a player or a coach, beginner or advanced – I’ve made it an all inclusive and supportive community which welcomes anybody, just like the Netball world. The main benefit is that you will be given 4 weekly sessions to complete either LIVE with other members (through our facebook community) or at your own time and pace. These sessions include Netball and Strength and Conditioning Programming and are deisigned to be done by anyone, anywhere – there is no gym membership required. The whole programme has been put together by specialists in their field and gives athletes and coaches a taste of the world an athlete lives in everyday!

“As well as all of this, there are recipes, recovery ideas and advice, yoga, pilates, physio advice, sport psych workshops, special guests, brand discounts – I could go on. But what I love most about CLUB NET is that it is powered by an exclusive FaceBook community making the club away from club.”

What sets CLUB NET apart from other Online Programmes?

“Netball. It is at core of everything I do in life, my whole schedule revolves around it and so does the CLUB NET programme. With many other online fitness training programmes, you are being given a generalised programme which will help build strength and fitness but it is not tailored to the game. The benefits you see will be purely aesthetic and it will not (likely) improve your performance on court.

“Our programmes, articles, advice, everything at CLUB NET is centred around the game, netball players, netball coaches, and educating and training you to improve. Our S+C sessions are specifically designed to build strength and reduce injury and our netball sessions are made to help refine your skills in the game! You won’t find a specific programme out there that’s anything like it!”

What is a typical week in the life of a CLUB NET member?

“So Club Net members have access to a workout planner to help them to organise their week. There are two LIVE sessions at the weekend and two pre-recorded lessons in the week. As well as taking part in these they have access to exclusive interviews with experts in the netball world, nutiriton and the world of fitness and athleticism, articles, videos and other things to make up their week.

“I personally really love the Friday’s with CLUB NET which are challenge day. This is an opportunity for all members, experts, specialists and me to join in the fun and post their results for the challenge. We are keeping each other accountable and supporting each other along the way. This is what the Club is all about!”

Are there any exciting things in store for the future?

YES! But most of this is top-secret. However I am looking into creating some retreats in the school half terms for Over 18’s and putting on some coaching workshops in the near future. However I am always open to ideas, and very friendly on IG if you have any other ideas?
