Tell Your Inner Critic to SHUT IT!
We are often our own worst enemy when it comes to being in ourselves and pushing through the hard part of training.
The inner critic inside us tells us that we can’t do it, we aren’t good enough, we aren’t fit enough, we should just quit now and save the embarrassment.
But think about this…
If your mind has the power to write a negative story, it also has the power to write a positive one!
So next time you are battling with the voice inside telling you to quit, the it to SHUT UP! The voice in your head has just had a stupid idea and it’s time to move past it.
Instead, try to visualise yourself completing the thing you thought was too hard. Imagine yourself at the end of the race, at the end of the workout, lifting the 100kg weights, taking the last shot to win the game. If you can imagine yourself completing it and create those positive feelings, you are going to feel stronger and more willing to push though the hard bits!
You could also try manifesting. Using phrases like ‘I will’ and ‘I am’ in your day to day life to banish self-deprecating trash talk and instead start believing in yourself and your capabilities (I am definitely using a lot of this in my marathon training this month)!
So next time that voice pops up to tell you you can’t, stamp on it, shut it up and show it who’s boss!
